Rock blasting may begin on the Mississippi next week

The Army Corps of Engineers may begin blasting rock near Thebes, Illinois in an attempt to allow more water to flow into the drought decimated Mississippi River.  An Associated Press story published online by the Chattanooga Times Free Press reports that blasting, which was originally scheduled for February, could begin as early as next week.  Barge traffic along a six mile stretch of the river will be restricted.  READ THE STORY ….
